DMCA
We respect copyright and take valid infringement concerns seriously.
If you believe your copyrighted work has been used improperly, this page explains how to submit a DMCA complaint.
What this tool does
YouTube Subtitle Downloader is a utility that retrieves publicly available caption and subtitle data from YouTube videos. It does not host, store, or redistribute any video content, audio, or subtitle files on our servers.
When you use the tool, caption data is pulled directly from YouTube’s systems and delivered to your browser as a downloadable file. Nothing is saved on our end.
Our position on copyright
We respect intellectual property rights. Subtitle and caption files are part of a video creator’s work, and we take that seriously. This tool is designed for personal, non-commercial use — studying content, translating for yourself, or referencing captions while editing your own footage.
We do not authorize or encourage users to:
- Redistribute downloaded subtitles as their own content
- Use captions to repackage or reupload someone else’s video
- Strip and resell caption files from copyrighted content
- Use this tool in any way that violates YouTube’s Terms of Service
Filing a DMCA complaint
If you are a copyright owner — or an authorized representative of one — and you believe that content on this site infringes your copyright, you can file a formal complaint under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). To be valid, your complaint must include all of the following:
Your full legal name, organization (if applicable), email address, and a phone number where you can be reached.
A clear description of the work you own the copyright to. If filing on behalf of multiple works, a representative list is acceptable.
Identify specifically what on this site you believe infringes your copyright — including the URL or page where it appears.
A written statement that you have a good faith belief the use of the material is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in your complaint is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or are authorized to act on their behalf.
A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or their authorized representative.
Where to send your complaint
Send your complete DMCA complaint by email. We review every complaint we receive and act on valid ones promptly.
Use subject line: DMCA Complaint — [brief description]
Counter-notice
If you believe your content was removed in error, you can file a counter-notice. A valid counter-notice must include:
- Your full name, address, phone number, and email
- Identification of the material that was removed and where it appeared before removal
- A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good faith belief the material was removed by mistake or misidentification
- A statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court in your district and will accept service of process from the person who filed the original complaint
- Your physical or electronic signature
Repeat infringers
We take a firm position on repeat infringement. Users who repeatedly violate copyright will have their access to this tool restricted or terminated. We don’t make exceptions for this.
Important note
This tool interacts with YouTube’s platform. If your copyright concern relates specifically to a video hosted on YouTube — rather than anything on this site — the right place to file is directly with YouTube through their copyright complaint process.
