Who we are
YouTube Subtitle Downloader is a free online tool that lets you download subtitle and caption files from public YouTube videos. We don’t sell software, we don’t run a subscription, and we don’t ask you to create an account.
What we collect
Almost nothing. Here’s the complete list.
When you paste a URL into the tool, we use it to fetch the caption data from YouTube and send it back to you as a downloadable file. We don’t store that URL after your session ends — it isn’t logged, recorded, or linked to you in any way.
Like every website, our server automatically records standard access data — your IP address, the page you visited, your browser type, and the time of the request. These are kept briefly for security and troubleshooting, then deleted. We don’t use them to identify you personally.
If you reach out through our contact page, we receive your name, email address, and message. We use that only to reply to you. We don’t add you to a mailing list or share your details with anyone.
What we don’t collect
- We don’t ask for your name, email, or any account details to use the tool
- We don’t track which videos you download or build any history of your usage
- We don’t collect payment information — the tool is completely free
- We don’t access your YouTube account or require any YouTube login
- We don’t install anything on your device
Third-party services
Our tool retrieves caption data through YouTube’s publicly accessible systems. When you use this tool, you’re also subject to YouTube’s Terms of Service and Google’s Privacy Policy. We have no control over YouTube’s data practices.
We may use Google Analytics to understand site traffic. Google collects anonymized usage data. You can opt out using Google’s opt-out browser add-on.
If the site displays ads — for example through Google AdSense — those ad networks may use cookies to serve relevant ads. We don’t control what data they collect. Their own privacy policies apply.
Our website is hosted on a third-party server. That provider may log access requests as part of normal server operation. We choose reputable providers and review their data practices.

Children’s privacy
This tool is not directed at children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect any personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted information through our contact form, email us and we’ll remove it promptly.
Changes to this policy
If we make significant changes to this policy, we’ll update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. We won’t bury important changes in vague language — if something meaningful changes, we’ll say so clearly.
